Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a powerful and under-utilised tool for growth and profound healing. It has the power to change lives. I've seen it! 

Hypnosis

Hypnotherapy is an ancient tool that helps us shift deeply held thought patterns and beliefs, whilst also promoting deep relaxation. During hypnosis we access a deeper healing state, where the body can repair and a deep inner connection can be found. Whilst in this state the unconscious is more open to change and new possibilities can be planted. Hypnosis can help us to become experts in shifting our own state!

We are constantly learning more about how the mind works, and growing awareness into the neuroplasticity of the brain is confirming what hypnotherapists have known all along. As humans, we have the capacity for huge shifts in our thinking and the way we exist in our body. We are capable of change and creating a life much closer to our dreams.

Hypnosis is an amazing tool for changing the neural network in our brain and creating new energy pathways. Through a trance state, using suggestive language and metaphor, the therapist can gently shift old patterns and introduce more aligned and healthy ones that will unlock the very things the person is in need of. 

​

Whilst in a trance, you can also access a deep healing state where the body can enter repair, and we get out of our own way whilst the system does what it has always known how to do...it heals. The body relaxes and releases tension, stress rolls away and energy begins to flow more clearly.

In this relaxed state, the analytical 'monkey mind' has less dominance and your unconscious begins to open up more. In everyday conscious life the patterns and usual thoughts are more stuck and less fluid, as if they are being continuously reinforced by the analytical mind and long run programs. The brain takes the path of least resistance, and resists change.

When you enter hypnosis the rigidness of these programs soften, and the gateway to the unconscious part of the mind beneath the surface is opened. In this unique trance state the language used can sink deeper and embed seeds for new neural pathways, having bypassed the analytical gate keeper.

The combination of deep relaxation and neural rewiring is incredibly powerful! I believe that whilst in hypnosis something beautiful happens. There is a recharging affect, like the person has plugged into a battery source. Clients often come up feeling different, relaxed and more optimistic. I believe there is a soul connection when we sink into this state, and a reconnecting to the healing energy of the Universe.

When I was struggling with fatigue daily, I used hypnosis to enter a healing state every day and I prescribe this for clients who are experiencing chronic symptoms. Just because someone is tired or even exhausted, it does not mean that they are resting when they are doing nothing. In fact, their body is usually in fight or flight and overdrive. Hypnosis is a wonderfully gentle healing tool to reset this pattern.

Some people fear hypnosis because of a lack of control, which is understandable and may relate to personal blocks around letting go or previous life traumas. This is not uncommon. There has also been stage hypnosis that shows people doing strange things for entertainment purposes. It is important to understand that hypnotherapy is different, and is for the wellbeing of the individual.

Like any therapy, there needs to be a good relationship built on trust and collaboration. When you find the right therapist you will know that you are in safe hands and that all language used in trance is for your benefit. If anything, you become deeply focused and in control of your thoughts and can choose what suggestions you follow.

What to expect

You will be guided into a gentle state of relaxation, using special music with hypnotic beats and deepening techniques, such as counting down from ten. Everyone experiences trance differently. Some people think they are not in a trance, even though the therapist can see that they are.  Other people go very deep quickly and easily, and are naturally more able to let go. There is no one size fits all and everyone's experience is unique.

Some people question whether they can be hypnotised at all, usually because they have always struggled to relax and switch off the mind. Whilst it may take a little longer for this person to relax into hypnosis, and more sessions to remind the mind and body how to relax, they most likely can be hypnotised. 

​

It is only a very small % of the population that cannot be hypnotised. It is extremely rare for a hypnotherapist to meet one of these people, even if they work with hundreds or thousands of clients in their lifetime. 

​

Hypnosis is like a muscle. The more we use it the stronger it becomes. Your mind knows how to enter this state, it may have just forgotten due to the busy demanding world we live in. In sessions we will gently remind you how to relax. 

​

Once in trance I will use my intuition to create a bespoke script that I will speak aloud, using suggestive language to shift old thoughts and create new energy patterns for your greater good. You will be guided on a journey, using nature, visualisation, senses and much more. No one session is the same. 

​

The common themes I focus on for all people are self-compassion, self-belief and the ability to make changes in life. This will be interwoven with your unique case.

 

In some instances we will use inner child work, and more advanced techniques to support healing of past events and energy blockages. This might involve timeline sessions where you visit past events, or future pacing where you envision and feel the future you desire. Sometimes I will help you adjust the senses in a memory to find more peace and healing.

You will be gently guided back up to the surface and given a little while to come back to conscious awareness. I provide new clients with a hypnosis audio to use at home to support the first session, and continue to share recordings alongside further sessions.  

​​

Most people report better sleep, and feeling calmer and more content. Some people want to have regular top up appointments, whilst others are happy to go on their way after a pathway of sessions. We will discuss the best option for you.
